🐭 Disney bets big on this coin and blockchain
Plus: Shopify x Google
Happy Tuesday Anon! Today we're discussing Disney's blockchain bet and Shopify x Google. Estimated read time: 1.5 minutes.

Disney is betting big on Web3 and the Metaverse in this year's accelerator program.
Why it matters: The Web3 revolution is just beginning and Mickey Mouse is desperate for a piece of this pie since they know just how big it'll be.
What is the accelerator program: Disney's accelerator program was launched in 2014 and helps "accelerate" the development of companies looking to change the entertainment and media landscape in the process.
Disney's previous companies: Most notably, Epic Games, BYJU's (massive Indian education company), and Kahoot.
Driving the news: This year's companies include the likes of Polygon ($MATIC), InWorld AI (Metaverse AI company previously covered here), Lockerverse (Web3 company), and many others.
Disney's big blockchain bet: The most interesting company on that list is Polygon, which houses the best that Web3 has to offer, and it appears that Disney believes in Polygon, but also the potential that blockchains have to disrupt media and entertainment.
The bottom line: This year's participants in the accelerator are just another sign that the Web3 revolution is still in full gear despite the fact that the market has jumped off a cliff, and a massive sign that Polygon is the sidechain that corporations and degens alike are betting on.

Shopify is partnering with Google to expand into the video space. Why it matters: Live shopping has taken China by storm and created an industry that brings in an insane $60 billion annually and now western tech companies want to import the industry. The industry in America: Live shopping or QVC 2.0 as I call it, hasn't caught taken America by storm yet, but there is strong interest from consumers and investors. What the partner does for Shopify: Shopify makes it easy for content creators on Youtube create a store tab on their channel page and promote products in videos and during livestreams. What the partnership does for Youtube: Youtube gives their creators another avenue to make money. Shopify's other partnerships: Shopify already has partnerships with Meta and TikTok to integrate Shopify stores on their platforms.
State of play: Every major social media platform is betting big on integrating e-commerce. The bottom line: Western tech companies have live shopping fever and are slowly building up their platforms to prepare for this shift. If you're in e-commerce, it would be a great time to look at this opportunity even if the e-com is experiencing some trouble right now.
